"Any child can learn to do something... especially when modeled by their peers and their school leaders."
-Dr. Rachel Orscheln, associate professor of pediatric infectious diseases at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
- Students will wear face coverings on buses and in hallways when physical distancing is difficult. Students will not need to wear a face covering while playing during recess, physical education, or when socially distanced at their desks. Face covering breaks will also be scheduled throughout the day.
- Special accommodations will be made for students with medical reasons!
- Please read this handout from the American Academy of Pediatrics on helping children adapt to masks. Make sure kids have practiced wearing masks BEFORE they show up for the first day.
- Our clear, consistent, and repeated message will be "This is how we keep each other safe"
- Each student will be given a lanyard with clips to hold face shields when students need to remove them. Here's one version that's gone viral on Facebook. Students may provide their own as long as it is the breakaway type.
- Face shields can be used by children who can't adapt to a mask. Wearing a shield is preferable to no face covering at all.
- All faculty and staff will wear a face covering as well!!
