Attention Parents, Students, and Employees
In an effort to give students, parents, and employees time to plan ahead, we are releasing the following information regarding “Closed Days” and “Remote Flexible Instruction Days” for the 2023-2024 school year.
Closed Day is defined as the school district is closed to everyone and the “closed day” will be made up on another date.
To date during the 2023-2024 school year, school has been closed on:
Tuesday, January 9, 2024 with the make up date of March 15, 2024
Tuesday, January 16, 2024 with the make up date of March 18, 2024
Friday, January 19, 2024 with the make up date of April 2, 2024
After-school activities will be canceled on a “closed day”.
Note: To the date of this notice, the district will use one additional “closed day” due to inclement weather as per the current school calendar. The district will begin using “remote flexible instruction days”, after using one more “closed day” for inclement weather.
Remote Flexible Instruction Day is defined as students remaining at home for the day working remotely online or completing assignments.
After-school activities will be canceled on a “remote flexible instruction day”.
Elementary Students in Grades PreK-5
PreK: Please follow the instructions provided by Mrs. Horn that are specific to the PreK Counts regulations.
Grades K-5:
Students are expected to complete assignments that are posted in Google Classroom or provided in their Remote Flexible Instruction Day folder. These assignments include specials, interventions, and speech (when applicable). **It is understood that some students may not be able to complete assignments during the regular school day hours; however, all assignments must be completed prior to the next regular in-person school day.
Teachers will be available from 8:40 AM - 3:45 PM to answer any questions and may be contacted through email or Google Classroom. Teachers will also hold open Google meets from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM and 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. The Google Meet link will be provided by the classroom teacher and posted on Google Classroom.
Elementary Attendance: In order to receive credit for the day, students must complete the activities/assignments for the day and submit them to the teacher the next day. This includes, but is not limited to, their specials (library/STEM, art, music, physical education). Students who completed the assignments will be marked in attendance for the day. Students who do not submit a completed assignment will be marked absent for the day and will need to submit a written excuse.
High School Students in Grades 6 -12
Grades 6-12: Students will be expected to complete the assignments posted in Google Classroom for ALL classes (including specials and electives). Assignments can be submitted through Google Classroom or paper copies submitted the next day at the beginning of class.
Teachers will be available from 7:30 AM to 2:40 PM to answer any questions and may be contacted through email or Google Classroom. Teachers will also hold an open Google Meet from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM and 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM. The link for the meeting will be posted in the Google Classroom page. Students should log on with any questions or if they need help.
